Burgum’s Lack Of Qualifications Laid Bare By Trump After Just One Year On Job
Trump’s Interior Secretary Doug Burgum Hired Because Of His Wife
HELENA, MT – After just one year on the job, Doug Burgum’s boss revealed the real reason the failed presidential candidate became his controversial Interior Secretary and top cheerleading cabinet member. At an executive order signing yesterday, Trump was joined by both the Interior Secretary and his wife. As the signing and press event came to a close, things took a very creepy twist. With the media present and cameras rolling, Trump told everyone that the only reason he had hired Burgum was because his wife was attractive and had caught his eye.
“Doug Burgum was never interested in being a stewardship of our outdoor heritage and birthrights, and his failed record after just one year on the job proves it. Trump’s creepy stream-of-consciousness admission about his Interior Secretary's wife and why he hired him for the job yesterday laid bare not only Burgum’s lack of qualifications, but the entire administration’s disdain for America’s cherished public lands and parks,” said Save Our Parks spokesperson Jayson O’Neill. “Burgum’s cheerleading of this administration’s unpopular and failed policies, harming our parks and public lands, isn’t popular with the public either.”
Burgum was passed over by Trump as his Vice President and Secretary of State, two positions he highly desired, and was instead tasked with implementing Trump’s Project 2025’s fail-by-design plan to sell off and privatize America’s parks and public lands as his Interior Secretary. The former North Dakota Governor and tech billionaire has been steeped in conflicts and controversy since his confirmation, with Americans and Congress questioning his shifting positions and values, mismanagement, censorship, and overall lack of transparency. The cronies Burgum has hired, and their clear conflicts of interests, have led to rampant corruption within his agency. His top lieutenant, Karen Budd-Falen, is now the subject of an internal investigation request by Congress.
Trump fired scandal-plagued Ryan Zinke, his first Interior Secretary, who spearheaded Trump’s deeply unpopular effort to gut a historic amount of public land protections, shortly after the midterm elections during his first term — a fate Burgum may also face given Trump’s sinking popularity and the Secretary’s own failures.
