NEW: White House Withdraws Unqualified Corporate Goon Scott Socha’s National Park Service Nomination

HELENA, MTIn a major win for America’s national parks, the Trump administration has withdrawn the nomination of Delaware North executive Scott Socha to serve as Director of the National Park Service. Socha’s lack of qualifications and blatant conflicts of interest were clear from day one; he’s a for-profit concessionaire executive who would have been in charge of regulating his own employer and awarding contracts that could have lined Delaware North’s pockets.

In response, Save Our Parks Spokesperson Jayson O’Neill issued the following statement:

“Another one of this administration’s unqualified corporate goons is gone, and that’s good news for America’s cherished national parks. Scott Socha had zero public service experience and built a career out of extracting maximum profit from our parks, not protecting them. Nominating a concessionaire executive to run the agency that regulates concessionaires was regulatory capture by design.

“While this is a setback for Doug Burgum’s fail-by-design plan for our parks and public lands, it’s not the end of it, considering Selloff Steve Pearce’s nomination is still pending. Burgum has spent over a year gutting the Park Service and advancing his park privatization agenda, and he won’t stop now. The American people are watching, and we’ll continue holding this administration accountable until our national parks are led by people who put America’s outdoor heritage first.”
